![]() Well to this I say artifacts were a huge piece of the xpac and therefore so was their art. For mage towers, the argument against wasĪbilities change between xpacs (harder to balance) We have tools like bronze dragons, BMAH, holiday events, flexible mob levels. All this is helping me come to peace though.īack to the main point though, I can't think of a single reason to remove something entirely from the game. I missed the BFA pre-patch which just does feel shit and not fair. I missed things like the Deathwing mount which is sad because I started in cata. I have now come back because I did still feel like I was missing a creative outlet via high tier raiding and addon writing (software engineer here) and I feel refreshed. I got focused on myself and moved forward. It kept me away because I knew I missed things. My breakthrough was leaving things unfinished and uninstalling the game. ![]() I did the towers and they finally said the PvP skins would remain available so life went on but I still felt like I needed a change. Cheat because the value of the game is locked behind fancy weapons. No harm there and if I'm caught, I only lose what wouldn't have been possible anyway." What a horrible way to think about a game. At a certain point, I finally became semi-rational and said, "Ya know what, if I can't get these PvP skins because of time and it's going to make the game a worse experience for me to the point of not wanting to play if I can't get them, I'll just set up a bot to kill my own 110s. The honor ones alone (before they announced they were obtainable in BFA) would have taken years to accumulate. It was EXHAUSTING.Īrtifacts were the pinnacle of this for me as it required so much effort and grinding. I did the same thing with WoD and MoP challenge modes. I completed every single mage tower because I didn't want to miss out. I was someone who recognized these appearances were going away and decided the only thing I could do was become deadly efficient at all of the classes and specs. I feel we are a lot alike just by reading this. But most importantly I would like them to stop permanently removing content and instead shifting to timed exclusivity for upcoming content.Ī million percent this. Blizzard has done it before (usually via the BMAH) so I think they could do it again. ![]() Making content that was previously removed obtainable again might upset people who invested a lot of time and effort into getting those items. I am advocating for the return of now unobtainable content because I believe Blizzard's FOMO-driven systems are just a cheap way to keep players playing. I am not advocating for the return of currently unobtainable content so that I can get it. In fact off the top of my head I can't think of a piece of unobtainable content that I'd really want to get. I want to be clear: I have a bunch of now unobtainable stuff. In my opinion timed exclusivity is also the perfect balance between letting people show off they achieved something hard without letting people rest on their laurels for too long. Gladiator mounts and elite transmogs can't be obtained after the season ended, but Mythic mounts/transmogs can be farmed afterwards. The TotGC mount was removed, but every other raid mount was nerfed to 1% drop chance. Mounts from the original ZG are no longer obtainable, but the mount from the original Karazhan is. Undying/Immortal stayed in the game until 4.0. Every other raid meta achievment mount is still obtainable. The Naxxramas meta achievement mounts were removed when Ulduar was released. It's also very frustrating how inconsistent Blizzard is in their approach to permanently removing content. I wish Blizzard would use this approach for more of their timed rewards. This way the mounts stay somewhat exclusive without removing them from the game entirely. I believe Mythic mounts are the perfect implementation of timed exclusivity: You either get them while the content is current (at which point they have 100% drop rate) or you get them one or two expansions later with 1% drop rate. I believe timed exclusivity is the best approach. Looks like I am going to swin against the stream here: I personally really dislike these sort of time-limited, FOMO-driven systems for keeping players subbed.
